We are the ancient parish church of Willesden in north-west London, dating back to the year 938 when it was founded by King Athelstan. It has a rich history, not least as one of the great medieval shrines of Mary, the mother of Jesus, beloved of countless thousands of pilgrims.
It is a place where people meet weekly, if not daily, to give praise to God and deepen our love of Jesus Christ and of each other. We are fed by the sacraments, especially the Mass, and by the scriptures.
Our image of Mary (left) holds out Jesus to us, his arms spread wide to call us to himself. Our devotion to Mary is to the one who always points us away from her and towards Our Lord. We are rebuilding that tradition of devotion which brought thousands of pilgrims here in the late middle ages.
Come and see whether this is a place, and we a body of people, where you sense your own heart being warmed by the love of God; and where the selfless, grace-filled example of Mary inspires you to emulate her.
Our Lady of Willesden, pray for us!

IMPORTANT NOTICE - CORONAVIRUS
CLOSURE OF THE CHURCH
The Bishop of London has ordered the closure of all churches, even for private prayer. This means that St Mary’s is currently closed, and will remain closed until further notice.
Please do stay in touch with what is happening via our website and Facebook page (where you will find live streams of the daily Mass and other resources to help you sustain your spiritual life).
The Mass continues to be offered every day for the needs of the parish, its people and for the world - particularly for all those affected by the spread of COVID-19, and for those working to combat it. You can join these acts of worship to Almighty God by making a Spiritual Communion (resources for this available to download here).
Most of our worship is being live-streamed, and you can view the video feed on our Facebook page (please note you do not need to be a Facebook user to access this, just click the link).
An electronic copy of the worship booklet for this coming Sunday is on the website here. We shall be live-streaming Mass at the usual time of 10:30am, and you are welcome to join us on the Facebook page for this, or pray along with us on your own or as a family group.
Regular Mass Times
Fr. Chris also continues to offer the Daily Office morning and evening. You can join with him in praying this by visiting Universalis
A range of prayer and worship resources for this pandemic period from the Church of England, from London parishes, and national TV and radio programme listings, is available here, including some for families with young children.
If you, or anyone you are aware of is in need of pastoral support – including help with groceries, collecting prescriptions, etc, please contact the Vicarage and we will do our best to help you. It is particularly important to let us know of any sickness or other serious problems so that appropriate spiritual care can be arranged.

Do not be afraid! And never forget the promise of Our Lord: “I am with you, even until the end of the age”.
